We leave Huaraz in private transportation to the village of Huaycayan, where we begin the 6-7 hour hike ascending switchbacks towards our first camp in Huishcash. Duration: 6-6 hours. Camp: Huiscash (4200m).
This day 2 important passes await us, Osoruri pass (4860m) and Vientunan Pass (4770m), but before the passes we will have a beautiful view of the Lake Azulcocha and Yanacocha, after which we pass the border of the Lake Cullicocha (4620m). Duration: 5-6 hours. Camp: Ruinapampa (4400m)
Today we pass through the Cedros valley heading in the direction of Alpamayo valley, where we will have the most impressive view of the northwest face of Alpamayo (5947m). Duration: 4-5 hours. Camping: Jancarurish (3800m).
Rest day. Optional: we can go on a small 3-hour hike close to Lake Jancarurish to see the pyramid shape of Alpamayo. This is the angle of the mountain that is often shown in pictures and has won the mountain its reputation as the most beautiful mountain in the world. Duration: 3 hours. Camp: Jancarurish.
Today we leave camp heading towards Huillca, passing Gara Gara pass (4830m) and later the Mesapampa pass (4500m). Duration: 5-6 hours. Camp: Huillca (4300m)
We leave Huillca heading towards Jancapampa through the Yana Quenua valley. We will cross the Yanacon pass on this day (4600m). Duration: 5-6 hours. Camp: Jancapampa (3600m)
This day we will head towards the village of Pishogampa (3600m), and then ascend through the Tingopampa valley towards Tupa-tupa pass (4400m). During the descent we will see the Huecrococha Lake. Duration: 4-5 hours. Camp: Quishar (3800m)
We leave camp in direction of the Pucuraju pass (4650m). From this point we can enjoy views of the highest mountains in the Cordillera Blanca, including Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Chraraju and also Taulliraju (5830m). Duration: 5-6 hours. Camp: Tuctu (4200m)
The last day we will walk about 7km through the Huaripampa valley, surrounded by quenual forest and traditional villages until we arrive in Vaqueria. Here our transportation will await us to return to Huaraz.
