Itinerary
DAY 01: HUARAZ- QUEROPALCA

We leave Huaraz headed towards Huaucopampa, including a visit to the Huanuco archaeological site. We continue the journey, headed uphill towards the village of Queropalca 3500m. We will eat dinner and spend the night in Queropalca.

DAY 02: QUEROPALCA- CARHUACOCHA

An uphill hike along a horse trail takes us past small villages. We will be able to observe from afar various peaks that oscillate 6000m, including Siula Grande, Yerupaja, Jirishanca, etc. We arrive at the Carhuacocha camp (4150m) after about 4-5 hours. From here Lakes Carhuacocha and Yerupaja are a short hike away, about 3 hours. We will eat and camp here.

DAY 03: CARHUACHOCHA- SIULACOCHA

We hike around the Carhuac Lake and later have views of the Quesillacocha, Gangraranjanca, and Siulacocha Lakes (4300m). About a 3 hour hike. There is an optional 2 hour hike to the lookout at 4550m. We eat dinner and spend the night here.

DAY 04: CARHUAC PASS- QUEBRADA JANCA

We climb a slightly steep path towards the Carhuac pass (4650m), where we will pause to enjoy spectacular views of Siula Grande and Yerupaja mountains. We descend towards the camp in Janca valley (4250m), where we have views of Ninashanca, Rondoy, and Jirishanca mountains. 5 hour hike, with an optional two-hour hike to Lake Mitucocha (4300m). We eat dinner and camp here.

DAY 05: QUEBRADA JANCA- CUARTELHUAIN

We hike through Janca valley, slowly climbing the valley to arrive at Canapunta pass (4700m), with a great view of the Huallanca range. Afterwards we descend towards the Cuartelhuain camp (4200m). 6 hour hike. We eat dinner and camp here.

DAY 06: Cuartelhuain- Lake JAHUACOCHA

We descend towards the Rondoy valley, which leads us on a steep path towards the Rondoy Pass (4750m). From the pass we will observe the west face of the surrounding mountains such as Rondoy, Jirishanca, and Yerupaja. After a break we descend a steep path towards the Solteracocha Lake. Afterwards we pass by the Lake Jahuacocha towards the camping area next to the lake (4150m). 7-8 hour hike. We will eat dinner here and spend the night.

DAY 07: LAGUNA JAHUACOCHA- HUARAZ

We climb from the lake through quenual forests towards the final pass, Pampa Llamac (4300m). From here we descend a heavily traveled path, passing the agricultural terraces of the local farmers in Llamac. We will reach Llamac village after ab out 5-6 hours, where our transportation awaits us to return to Huaraz.
